The Most Humble King of Israel
66Kind David : The Most Humble King of Israel
“One thing I ask of the Lord ; This is what I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life ,
To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in his dwelling;
He will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon the rock.”
Psalm 27 :4-5
To whom you rest your perfect security ?
King David rest his security upon the Lord.
King David sought to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life. King David indeed loved so much the presence of the Lord . King David is a mighty king, victor of innumerable battles, conqueror of the mighty Goliath. Yet King David inspite of all his victories and display of prowess remained a very humble king , so much dependent upon God.
Usually powerful leaders grew proud because of their power and influence, they become complacent and self-sufficient that they consider it a weakness to depend upon God. It is not unordinary for a person to grow proud when blessed with so much success. Leaders like Adolf Hitler. Joseph Stalin, Juan Peron grew proud and abusive when enthroned in powerful seat. But King David became more humble and more dependent upon God after several victories. He consider that his victories came from the Lord and never attributed these victories to his own might,
Truly I believe King David is the most humble king who ruled Israel. There had never been a king in Israel who had become more dependent upon God other than King David.
Despite all his achievements King David was deeply humble. He wanted glory to go to God not to himself. Inspite of tremendous success as King of Israel, David never grew proud. For King David, God is the true source of victory and power, For him, without God’s help he will never win any single battle, I believe this is one of the reasons why he is called a man after God’s own heart.
