Eternal Lover of My Soul

Eternal Lover of My Soul
It was one busy day at the Lake Gennesaret
When I first met Him face to face
I just used to hear about Him, His great miracles
But today after I saw the miraculous catch of fish
I have known deep inside me that He’s the One sent from above.
I have been a sinner from birth, but He still called me to be His man
From being a fisherman He called me to be a “fisher of men.”
And I left everything to follow Him.
Since then I have not known a greater calling than this.
For three years we lived with Him
We have seen His many miracles, truly unique and marvelous
We have heard His great stories and parables, full of impact
Truly we have witnessed the glory of the Messiah
The glory of the One and Only begotten Son.
I really don’t know what He saw in me to love me deeply
I have been a sinner and rebel from birth
Many times I was impatient and emotional
A weak and impulsive talker with a proud mouth.
But one day during His crucifixion because of fear I denied Him three times.
Yes I denied Him three times.
How I thought I love Him that much
But after all I still love myself more than anything.
I have forsaken Him at the time when He needed me the most
I have forsaken His cause after I learned His death.
I have forsaken my calling, the calling I cherished so much.
And I have gone back to fishing and forget about Him.
But inspite of all these things He remained persistent on loving me
He forgave me from all my backslidings.
He never gave up on me and reinstated me back to the ministry.
His love I may say is a stubborn love that never release me.
Whatever I do I cannot escape from His grasp.
Though Satan has asked to sift me as wheat.
He prayed for me that my faith will not fail.
I was almost out of His hands but He cannot afford to let me go.
Indeed He is the eternal lover of my soul
And I have not known any love greater than this.

Beautifully done dea sister cristina. Jesus and Peter would be so very pleased.
Thank you.
well this is such a lovely piece and well put together cristina, yes all need to take heed of this and learn that Jesus is our true love.
Great angle on Peter's thoughts of his journey with Christ. His story is encouraging for me, as I sometimes fail to see the path and stumble.
I have to agree with twobmad. This is beautiful. Peter was lucky to have lived with Jesus, to be taught by him directly. But then again, faith transcends time. Jesus lives in our hearts. Blessed is the one who did not see but believed.

A beautiful poetic insight into Peter's life and humanity which I think many including myself can identify with. and the beauty of the poem is how it show cases the grace of God who loves us through all.
Thank you Cristina.
